About Deep Fission
Deep Fission is a nuclear energy technology company developing a small modular reactor called the Gravity Reactor. The design uses pressurized water reactor technology, which is widely used in commercial nuclear power, but the reactor is installed in a vertical borehole about one mile below the surface. Water in the borehole and the surrounding rock provide pressure, cooling and shielding. The company aims to supply electricity from these reactors, alone or in clusters, to meet growing energy demand. It is based in Berkeley, California, and has not yet generated revenue.
