Notification Setup Guide

How to receive trade alerts from StreetAlpha on every device you use. ← Back to alert settings

On this page

Desktop browser Windows · Mac · Linux

Push notifications work in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari with no extra setup.

1

Go to your account page.

Open streetalpha.app/account while logged in.

2

Click "Enable Push Notifications".

Your browser will ask for permission to show notifications. Click Allow.

3

Toggle the personas you want alerts from.

Push toggles will become active once your device is enabled. Save your preferences.

Notifications appear in the bottom-right corner of your screen on Windows (or the upper-right on Mac), even when the browser is minimized. The browser does need to be running, but does not need to have a tab open. If you completely close the browser, you'll receive any queued notifications when you next open it (within one hour).

Android Phone · Tablet

No installation required. Push notifications work directly in your mobile browser.

1

Open StreetAlpha in Chrome (or Firefox/Samsung Internet).

Go to streetalpha.app/account on your phone and log in.

2

Tap "Enable Push Notifications".

Android will prompt for notification permission. Tap Allow.

3

Save your alert preferences.

Toggle which personas you want alerts from, then tap Save.

You'll receive trade alerts as standard Android notifications, even when the browser is closed. Tap a notification to jump directly to the relevant page.

Optional: install as an app

If you want StreetAlpha to appear as a home screen icon and open without browser chrome, you can install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA). This is purely cosmetic — push notifications work the same either way.

  1. Open StreetAlpha in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right.
  3. Tap Install app (or Add to Home screen).
  4. Confirm. The app icon will appear on your home screen.

iPhone & iPad iOS 16.4+ required

Apple requires StreetAlpha to be installed on your home screen before notifications can be enabled. This is an iOS rule, not a StreetAlpha one.

You must use Safari for the install step. Chrome, Firefox, and other iOS browsers don't expose the install option. Once installed, you can use the app normally — Safari is only required for the initial install.

Step 1 — Install StreetAlpha to your home screen

1

Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad.

Go to streetalpha.app and log in.

2

Tap the Share button.

It's the square icon with an arrow pointing up, located at the bottom of the screen on iPhone (or the top-right on iPad).

3

Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".

You may need to scroll the share menu to find this option.

4

Tap "Add" in the top-right corner.

StreetAlpha now appears as an icon on your home screen.

Step 2 — Enable notifications inside the installed app

Important: notifications must be enabled from the home screen icon, not from Safari. Opening the site in Safari again will not work — iOS requires the standalone (home screen) version.
1

Tap the StreetAlpha icon on your home screen.

The app opens without browser chrome — that's how you know it's the installed version.

2

Log in (if prompted) and go to Account.

3

Tap "Enable Push Notifications".

iOS will prompt for notification permission. Tap Allow.

4

Save your alert preferences.

Toggle which personas you want alerts from, then tap Save.

Heads-up: notifications will only fire after you've opened the installed app at least once. iOS doesn't activate the push subscription until first launch.

Email notifications Per-sender alerts

If you have email alerts enabled but don't want to enable push (or want both), you can set up your email app to notify you specifically when StreetAlpha emails arrive.

StreetAlpha sends alert emails from [email protected]. The instructions below show how to make sure these emails trigger a notification on your phone, even if your inbox is otherwise quiet.

iPhone — Mail app (VIP sender)

  1. Open the Mail app on your iPhone.
  2. Open any email from [email protected].
  3. Tap the sender's name at the top of the email.
  4. Tap Add to VIP.
  5. Go to Settings → Notifications → Mail → VIP and make sure Allow Notifications is on.

Android — Gmail app

  1. Open Gmail and tap an email from [email protected].
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
  3. Tap Filter messages like this.
  4. Set the filter, then tap Create filter.
  5. Check Always mark as important and apply.
  6. In Gmail settings, set notifications for the inbox category that important mail goes to (typically High priority only).

Outlook mobile

  1. Open Outlook and find an email from [email protected].
  2. Tap the sender's avatar or name.
  3. Tap Add to Focused Inbox if not already there.
  4. In Outlook settings, enable Focused Inbox notifications.

Troubleshooting

The "Enable Push Notifications" button doesn't seem to do anything

This usually means your browser is silently blocking the permission prompt. Most common causes:

I clicked Allow but I'm not getting any notifications

Notifications work on one device but not another

Each browser and device requires a separate enable. The Active Devices list on your account page shows which ones are currently subscribed. To add a new device, open StreetAlpha there and tap Enable Push Notifications.

I want to stop notifications on a specific device only

Go to Account → Trade Alert Preferences and click Remove next to the device under Active Devices. The other devices will continue receiving alerts.

I downgraded from AI Pro and still see push devices listed

Subscriptions remain in the system but won't receive alerts when your tier doesn't include them. You can manually remove them under Active Devices, or they'll be ignored until you re-upgrade.
