MU carries $51.9M in net bullish premium, led by a $0.55M $880 call for Oct. 30, while the whale-sized prints themselves stay small.
The headline number and the prints behind it
MU's options tape shows $51.9M in net bullish premium today. The largest individual alert in our whale-sized list is $0.55M. That gap matters. The lean is coming from breadth across the chain, not from a single block that announces itself.
The biggest print is the $880 call expiring Oct. 30 at $0.55M. Micron closed Friday at $877.55, so that strike sits roughly 0.3% above spot with five sessions of life left. It needs almost nothing from the stock to be in the money, and the expiry covers a dense stretch of catalysts.
The puts are short dated and small
The put activity is concentrated in contracts that expire today. The $870 put at $0.23M is the largest, and it sits 0.9% below Friday's close. The $840 and $825 puts expiring Oct. 26 printed $0.02M each, which puts them 4.3% and 6.0% below that close.
Those are same day contracts. They tell you about intraday hedging and quick trades, not conviction over the coming week. We would not read $0.02M lots at 4% to 6% out of the money as a bearish statement on a $993B market cap name.
A handful of $880 calls and $875 puts carried Oct. 23 expiries and have already settled. Those prints are stale. They add to the tally but not to the forward picture.
Why the lean matters after last week
This positioning arrives after a rough stretch. Micron dropped 6.3% on Thursday, then rebounded 2.46% on Friday to $877.55. The shares are roughly 30% below the 52-week high of $1,255.00, and the monthly decline is north of 20%.
Bullish net premium after a drop like that suggests traders are leaning into the bounce rather than hedging against another leg lower. It is a modest read, since the biggest single ticket is $0.55M. But the direction is consistent with Friday's recovery, and the Oct. 30 call is the cleanest expression of it.
What to watch next
Tuesday brings SK hynix results and the Taoyuan union talks, which together set the tone for memory names. The Fed decision follows on Wednesday, and PCE lands Thursday. The $880 weekly call expires after all of that, so its holder is paying for the full run of catalysts.
On the chart, Friday's low of $858.34 is the level to hold. A close below it would put the $800 area back in play and leave the bullish premium underwater. Above $880, watch whether new call prints in the Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 expiries get bigger than $0.55M. That would turn a lean into a position.
